Team News: Prime Motorsports/Gillard - WKA Lowe’s
At the recent WKA Mfg. Cup in Charlotte, the Prime Motorsports/ Gillard team continued to post good results. In the Yamaha Jr. Sportsman class the Gillard chassis qualified 1st with Eric Filgueiras and 2nd with Spencer Pigot for an all Gillard “front row”. At the end of the day the finishing
order in the Feature was the same with Eric Filgueiras winning and Spencer Pigot finishing second.

“We are very happy with the results in the Jr. Sportsman class” said team co-owner Gary Willis, “we have had very good results in the higher horsepower classes winning the WKA Tag points Championship last year and countless podiums in ICA but to now dominate in the Jr. Class is just icing on the cake” continued Willis.

“I am extremely happy for Eric Filgueiras” said team co-owner Manny Sola, “it is Eric’s first Mfg. Cup win and he has worked very hard for it, this win was way over due. To have Gillard with a one- two finish in that class was awesome, especially since we only had two Gillard’s entered in Jr.
Sportsman” said Sola.

In the Cadet class Eric Filgueiras rounded out a great weekend with a fine 4th place finish.

Daytona Kart Festival Dec 26-30 was our first national event of the George Kugler Manufacturers cup for the 2006 schedule.  In Cadet Jr. Sportsman Eric finished 5th out of 52 entry's, this was the most entry's that we've seen in this class ever.

In the second day, he was in 2nd place in the final but due to over excessive driving, he ran off the track but got his composure and was able to chase them down, pass some drivers and get another podium shot in 5th place.

In Yamaha Jr Sportsman on the final day of the race, due to carburetor problems we qualified very poorly and had to run in the cancellation race.  He won the cancellation and in the pre-final he went from 19th to 11th spot.  In the final in turn #1 he got pinched between a couple of drivers and lost a few spots, he was able to chase the drivers down and worked down to top 10.  2 of the drivers had a collision in front of him and he had no place to go and bent his rear axle, by the time he got back on the track he was able to finish 21st with the bent axle but gathered points.

We are going for our first state race Friday January 13-15 in Ocala, Fl.  Stay tune for updates.
