Well the Ocala race was the final race of the WKA Florida Regional our Easykart program has been going well.  Our Yamaha Jr. Sportsman was lacking but half way in the season it came alive until this race were we came up short to win the series.  We came in third in the race but got second in the State series overall.  We won the Easykart series the Cadet class went south on us from the Season opener. We could not get nothing right and we finished 9th.  We would have to see were the points will fall on this class.

However Eric won the Easykart race in the rain. Once again he showed the people and his competitors that he can drive a kart in the rain.  Next year we are going after the Yamaha Jr. Sportsman and the Cadet class with all we got!!!!!!.

EasyKart 60 Win

“Hot Racing Action and Hot Temperatures highlight the weekend”

JUPITER, Fla. – The third round of the Easykart Championship Series took place this past weekend at the Moroso Motorsports Park in Jupiter, Florida.  The competitors had to deal with both the challenging nine-tenths of a mile circuit as well as the Florida heat that saw track temps reach the 150 degree mark.  Eric Filgueiras and Joffrey Amaya both had successful weekends taking double victories in the 60cc and 100cc classes respectively.  The Freile Family also had a strong weekend with father and son taking class wins in 125cc Heavy and 125cc Light on Saturday afternoon.

The 60cc class belonged to Eric Filgueiras as he claimed both Saturday and Sunday victories.  Saturday Filgueiras would go unbeaten claiming the pole, prefinal and final victory.  However it was not an easy task for the young driver as he just edged out Jaime Ortega at the line by one tenth of a second.  Jack West finished out the podium in the third position moving up one spot from his fourth staring spot.

Filgueiras was unable to sweep the entire weekend as on Sunday he qualified in the third position behind Jack West and Saturday’s main rival Ortega.  For West, this was his first ECS pole position.  In the final though, Filgueiras left no question as he took the victory by 12 seconds over pole sitter West and Ortega.

Eric is closer to going to Italy.
